Step-by-step guide to applying for your Personal Public Service Number.

Personal Public Service (PPS) Number

You need a PPS Number to work in Ireland, access social welfare, and register for public services.

You must be living in Ireland. You cannot apply before you arrive.

MyWelfare.ie: Most applications are done online at MyWelfare.ie.

Documents: You will need to upload:

Photo ID (Passport or National ID).

Proof of Address (Utility bill, lease, or letter from host/employer).

Reason

Proof of why you need one (e.g., job offer).

After applying online, it can take a few weeks to receive your letter with the number.

If you don't have a utility bill yet, a letter from your employer confirming your address is often accepted.
